Summer Camp’s Getting Started!

Orientation week has begun and the Summer Missionaries are being encouraged and taught everything they will need to know this summer. This summer, Tess will be serving in the Kid’s Club caring for full time staff’s younger children as they work and serve campers in other ways. Tess is also helping with the souvenir shop and has been working on getting nurses for each camp week and first aid kits and other medical supplies stocked. Lee will be serving in the office like normal and getting to teach Bible Class during the Grade School and Middle School weeks.

May 2024 Work Week

Work Week is a special time at camp and it ramps up the excitement and energy for the coming Summer season. This was a week filled with times of worship in the mornings and evenings to prepare our hearts and minds for service. The rest of the day is filled with a long laundry list of projects ranging from painting walls, power-washing, deep cleaning, sound system checks, and more. Our pool is currently fixed, painted, and filled with water! Some of our coworkers and other volunteer groups come and stay on campus during work week to prepare (physically and spiritually) during this time.

Bible Classes for Summer Camp

Each year part of the camp week is time spent in Bible Class. This gives times to dive deeper into a lot of subjects to help campers grow and mature. Each year a camper comes they are then moved onto the next class covering usually a deeper subject. I, Lee, will be continuing to teach 2 classes I had last year. And I helped write the booklet for a new class being taught.

The Christian’s 2 Natures – Grade School Weeks 1 & 2

This class is for the campers who are coming for the second time to camp. This class dives into the story of the whole Bible and what does it mean to be a Christian. We focus in on how does a Christian deal with the problem of sin? And what do we do if we are following Jesus and sin?

The Holy Spirit – Middle School Weeks 1 & 2

This class dives into who, what, and how does the Holy Spirit work! We are usually familiar with who God is and how He created the universe and rules over it all. We hear a lot about Jesus and his life, death, and resurrection and the new life He offers to anyone who calls on Him. The last person out of this group is a little less familiar to the average person. So this classes breaks down the work of the Holy Spirit and his vital role in the life of the Christian.

Connections – Middle School Weeks 1 & 2

This was a newer class and I helped research and write the curriculum and booklet.

This class is split into a boys class (taught by William) and a girls class (taught by Ashlee). They will get to dive into what God thinks of Marriage, the family, friends, and dating. All with the aim of helping the campers deepen their relationships in a healthy way.

There are obliviously more classes than these. These three are just the ones I am personally involved with!

Family News

Our foster son, M, will continue to be with us through the summer. Jude, Piper, and Jasper are excited to have summer begin and to hang out with the Summer Missionaries (college and high school students)!

Pray with us

  • Pray for our health as Summer time always seems to be when some sickness tries to make it’s way through.
  • Pray for the campers, especially those who do not know Jesus yet!
  • Pray for the Summer Missionaries, some of whom this is their first Summer serving. Pray they find new comfort and strength in their God.
  • Pray for the families of the campers. Campers come from all different kinds of backgrounds, all of which need Jesus.
