Preparing for Winter

Camp has been in prep mode for winter. Some of our cabins are only used during the Spring, Summer, and Fall have been shut down for winter (we close some cabins so that the water pipes don’t freeze.) We have also been helping many families whose homes were damaged prepare for winter.

  • Our Distribution Center closed down this past week. Almost all of the items have been given to those in need. The few items left will continue to be distributed over time to the homes that are being rebuilt and to anyone in need who asks.
  • Teams from different churches and organizations have come to camp to help rebuild homes in our community (drywall, electrical, plumbing). The main focus right now is getting everyone ready for winter!

New Responsibilities

Tess is now in charge of the Camp Nathanael Store, which sells T-Shirts, mugs, and other Camp Nathanael merchandise! She will be taking over all the ordering and stocking of the store. Because of how bad the flooding was in the building we keep the store, this will have to be almost started from scratch, including all displays and storage.

We also are both taking larger roles in the Outdoor Education program. So we will be more involved in the planning and preparing for Fall 2023.

Schools

Many of our local schools got started back this past month so camp started our Character Education program for this school year. Lee will be starting to help with the Character Education Program with Knott county students soon!

Fall School Assemblies

Camp has also planned out some school assembly programs for the month of November, bringing the program “Indiana Wild” to the Knott and Perry County schools.

Family updates!

We signed some final papers and submitted all of our paperwork for final approval as a foster home! After this is approved we will open our home up sometime in November.

Jasper and Piper have been loving school, making new friends, and come home singing songs about the days of the week and seasons. Jude continues to grow and become more vocal, enjoying the attention he gets while the older kids are at school. He especially loves animals!

Pray with us!

  • Pray for the families and individuals still repairing/rebuilding their homes
  • Pray for the students and teachers returning to class
  • Pray for the children that will be coming to live with us for unknown periods of time
  • Pray for the families of the children coming to live with us
