April 2023

April was filled with lots of activity at camp!

The Women’s Retreat was an overnight retreat this spring and was so refreshing to get together and learn more about God’s word while spending time with other women. Celia Jimenez was the speaker and she did a fantastic job! Celia was on our podcast “The Voice of Camp Nathanael” too talking about the event!

Our Men’s Event that went really well. There were over 60 men there and it was discovered that none of us are very good at throwing axes! It was a great start to a new ministry as Camp Nathanael aims to disciple men to be leaders in their communities and homes.

Finally, we had our annual Married Couples Retreat. Josh Haywood, pastor at Harlan Baptist Church, spoke on the necessity of putting Christ as center of marriage and getting yourself out of the way. This event is always well received and a lot of fun. He will also be on a podcast coming up (It’s already recorded but hasn’t been released yet).

We had Kickstart Soccer at Camp Nathanael start in April as well. This is a also a great ministry to the community, because there are not many sports leagues like this in the area and we have over 200 students involved this year. Piper is on one of the teams and is really enjoying it. Last year we got quite a few kids sign up for Day Camp (in the first week of June) after Kickstart soccer ended in May.

Family News

We still have our foster son, K. He is doing really well and we enjoy having him in our home. We are not sure how long we will have him but we anticipate he will be able to go home at some point this year.

Pray with us!

  • Please be in prayer for K and his family as they work to bring him home as quickly as possible. They are taking the steps and making the changes they need to get him back!
  • Also be in prayer for the next few weeks as we and volunteers prepare for the Summer Camp season. There is still a lot to do before we will be ready to welcome kids. And the summer staff will be coming for orientation just after Memorial Day!
