April 2026

April was full of ministry, but very different from our traditional summer camp ministry. Most of our April events were geared mostly towards adults! With something most every weekend in addition to our normal weekday responsibilities, we stayed quite busy as we head towards summer.

Women’s Retreat 🌻

We had an overnight women’s retreat and it was a big success! Lots of women came. We had good food, fellowship and great worship and sessions. This overnight event will most likely be an annual event because of the attendance and feedback we’ve received at overnight events we’ve had before.

Senior Citizen’s Luncheon ☀️

We have 2 days each April exclusively for our senior citizens. With a service and lunch, we bring in lots of seniors from the surrounding counties including individuals, churches and senior citizens centers. This is always enjoyed by all who attend. We usually get to hear stories of camp back in the day as well!

Men’s Day 🪓

The Men’s Day was probably the best one yet. This ministry started 3 years ago as a way to connect men from the different churches (along with some who don’t currently go to a church) to throw some axes, shoot clay pigeons, and play some games. It’s also been a time of challenge to push men to lead in their church, work, family, and friends. Roy Hodson, a retired Director from Camp, came and spoke on wisdom.

Rodeo 🐴

Trails to Truth happens during the school year teaching horsemanship from a Biblical perspective. Students are taught how to care for and lead horses while also learning how God cares for us and leads us. The semester wrapped up with a Rodeo! 150 family and friends came to see students do pole races and barrel races and hear the Gospel presented.

Marriage Retreat 💍

Normally when events and ministries are happening it’s all hands on deck to get everything into place. This year was a bit different as we, Lee and Tess, got to participate in the weekend sitting in on the sessions, participating in the games, and getting to converse with other couples, both older and younger. It was a good weekend reconnecting with each other and being encouraged to continually pursue and grow together.

Family Updates

We still have KK and her parents are doing well! They got to increase visits this month.
We also received another short term foster placement this month, 3 year old “J”, which increases the number of kids in our home to 5! This was unexpected and a bit unusual as to how she came to be placed with us, but be praying for this sweet little girl as she adjusts.

We have had quite a few kids come and go in our home recently, but hearing these stories and taking these little ones in has only made us more aware of how much of a ministry foster care is. And also how much we need even more Christian homes open to take in these kids, especially in our area. If you ever considered becoming a foster home, we’d love to talk to you about it!

Prayer

  • Pray as we make our final preparations for Summer Camp!
  • Pray we fill our cabins this summer!
