Prepping for Summer!
May was filled with strengthening marriages, preparing for Summer Camp, and some rest before the busy summer months at Camp Nathanael. Jasper and Piper finished up their first soccer season. We were also able to take a trip with Tess’ family!
Married Couples Retreat!
May started off with Married Couples Retreat. We had 15 couples come for a weekend to invest in and strengthen their marriages. Tess and I pitched in behind the scenes helping in the kitchen. We also got to attend the fancy dinner (kid free)!
Preparing for Summer Camp!
Camp has an annual tradition called Work Week. This is a week where all the full time staff (*including those who live far away) and a bunch of volunteers work to prepare for summer camp! Work Week is a time to finish up any major renovation projects, prepare lesson books for summer camp, and be spiritually built up with our co-workers through worship and teaching!
Tess spent Work Week preparing the Dinning Hall and helping with some deep cleaning. I, Lee, spent the week weed-eating and working on the decorations with the creative team for this years theme, “Pressing On”! Campers will be learning how to Press On towards the goal of becoming more like Jesus!
Pressing On Theme Verse | Philippians 3:12-14
“Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 3:12-14

When does Summer Camp start?
Our Summer Missionaries (high school and college students) will arrive for training this Thursday, June 2nd. They will serve as lifeguards, dining hall hosts, counselors, field game leaders, and more!
Our first campers will arrive Wednesday, June 8th for Day Camp! These 1st-3rd graders come June 8th-10th to experience games, horse riding, worship, and swimming! Tess has been preparing for her work in the dining hall.
Pray with us!
- We are hopefully finishing up the renovations on our house and will be moving in soon! It needed some serious work, like working bathrooms! 😅
- Pray for the Couples who came to Married Couples Retreat that they continue to grow closer to God and each other as they lead their families.
- Pray for the Summer Missionaries that they too will press on to becoming more like Jesus as they lead campers!
- We were able to travel to see Tess’ extended family to celebrate the life of her Grandmother, Vi Henderson, who passed earlier this year. It was good to see everyone and be encouraged by the life she lived in dedication to serving those around her.
Join us in memorizing scripture!
This summer the campers will work on memorizing our theme verse and daily verses to help them meditate on the scriptures daily while here at Camp and hopefully beyond. Memorizing scripture is an ancient practice of Christians that gets the scriptures off of the page and ingrained into our everyday lives! As we work with our Summer Missionaries to encourage Scripture memorization we want to challenge you too to memorize as well!
Daily Verses worked on with campers
Day 1 | “My sheep hear my voice and I know them, and they follow me” – John 10:27
Day 2 | “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded be so great a cloud of witnesses…let us run” – Hebrews 12:1a
Day 3 | “Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” – Hebrews 12:1b
Day 4 | “Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith…” – Hebrews 12:2a
Day 5 | “Who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” – Hebrews 12:2b
